Avoid Back Surgery With Spinal Decompression

Back pain is often caused by spinal disc problems, typically diagnosed as herniated disc, bulging or slipped disc, ruptured disc or pinched nerve.

What is a spinal disc?

Spinal discs are located between the vertebrae, allowing movement and providing shock absorption for the spine.  They act as a strong elastic pivot for each joint segment of the spine, providing stability and allowing a relatively wide range of motion.  Over time, the disc can wear and tear and start to lose its strength and pliability.  Damage to a disc can cause a wide range of painful and potentially debilitating symptoms.

How do spinal discs cause pain?

When the spinal disc itself dehydrates or degenerates, it loses some of its flexibility and cushioning and can cause pain and instability in the spinal segment. This is known as degenerative disc disease.

In many cases the disc itself is not painful but rather it’s the malposition of the disc or the material leaking (herniating) out of the disc that irritates nearby nerves.   The damaged disc can press upon the spinal nerve root or spinal cord causing muscle spasms or shooting pains that radiate to other parts of the body such as the low back, pelvis or down the leg.

Chiropractic can help!

Popular medical treatments involve medications like pain relievers, anti-inflammatory or anti-spasm prescription drugs, or surgery.  All of these come with potential risks and side effects and may not even correct the problem.  Before choosing one of these options, see how chiropractic can help you.

At HealthQuest Chiropractic and Spine Pain Solutions, we have created an individualized and effective protocol for correcting the disc problem and eliminating your symptoms.  After careful examination and review of your MRI (when applicable), a customized treatment plan will be created for you.  This will center around a series of non-surgical spinal decompression treatments and may also incorporate chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, nutrition supplements and rehabilitative exercises.

We are pleased to offer you a free consultation and MRI review to learn more and see if this is the right solution for you. Call our office to schedule your today @ 770.509.3400.
